Connecting social accounts without sharing passwords means you log in to each network yourself, on the network's own site, and approve what a tool may do. The tool never sees your password. In the DigitalShyft client portal you do this for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and TikTok, and you can disconnect any of them later.

Why shouldn't you share your social media passwords?

A shared password gives whoever holds it full control of the account, and you cannot see who used it or when. To cut off access later you have to change the password, which also locks out everyone who legitimately needs it.

Passwords also tend to travel by email and chat, where they sit in message history. And sharing a login can breach a network's terms of use. For a business account that carries your reputation, that is a poor trade for a little convenience.

How does connecting without a password work?

You go to the network's own login page, sign in there, and approve a specific connection. The network then lets the tool act within that approval. The tool receives permission to act, not your password.

This is the same pattern as a Log in with button on many websites. You can end the connection from your side at any time.

A simple question to ask any provider is whether you type your password into their site. If you do, they hold your login. If you are sent to the network itself to sign in, they do not, and that difference is what keeps your account in your hands.

How do you connect your accounts in the DigitalShyft client portal?

On your dashboard, open the Social tab and find Social accounts. Click Connect next to each network you use: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X or TikTok. You sign in on the network itself, approve, and come straight back to your dashboard. Nobody at DigitalShyft sees your passwords.

A few details are worth knowing. Instagram needs a Business or Creator account to accept posts from the portal. LinkedIn connects company pages. The return link works once and only in the browser that started it, and the portal keeps only the accounts the connection says belong to you.

Admins and Managers on your account can connect networks. Viewers can see the list but not change it.

What happens after you connect an account?

Each post publishes to your account at its scheduled time, and the networks each get their own version of the post. You can also create a one-off post at any time from the Social tab: say what it is about, add a link and an image, pick the networks and either post as soon as it is approved or choose a date and time.

If you have several Pages on a network, the portal does not guess. You choose which one posts go to, and you can disconnect the rest.

What control do you keep after connecting?

You can disconnect a network at any time from the same Social accounts panel, and posting to it stops. The portal also checks connected accounts every day and alerts our team if an account has dropped, so a broken connection does not go unnoticed.
