AI short video for social media is a vertical clip of about 5 to 15 seconds, generated by AI from a still image and posted in a short-video format such as a Reel. It earns its place when a post is really about movement: a process, a game, a moment. When the moment reads better held still, keep the photo.
What is AI short video for social media?
It is a short, vertical clip that an AI model generates instead of a camera recording one. A typical clip runs 5 to 15 seconds and is built for the full-screen, swipe-through formats such as Reels.
Because the clip is generated and not filmed, it can show a scene that never happened. That makes it useful for illustrating an activity. It is also the main reason a person should watch every clip before it is published.
When should you use a video instead of a photo?
Use video when the point of the post is movement or a sequence: a swing and where the ball goes, one step in a process, a moment and the reaction to it. A clip can tell a small story in a few seconds that a still image would need a caption to explain.
Keep the photo when the post is mainly information: an announcement, an address, a policy, or anything where exact detail matters. Generated motion can bend small details, and a still image gives it fewer chances to.
A useful test is to ask what the viewer should take away. If the answer is a feeling or an action, try video. If the answer is a fact, keep the photo.
What should you check before you publish an AI video?
Watch the whole clip and look for what generators get wrong: hands and faces, objects that change shape, text or logos that are not quite right, and people who react to nothing.
Then check the fit. Does it show an activity or product your business really offers, in a way you would be comfortable defending? If a regular customer would find it odd, do not use it.
Finally, check the opening. Viewers decide quickly whether to keep watching, so the first second should show the subject, not a slow build.
How do short videos work in the DigitalShyft client portal?
In the DigitalShyft client portal, short video is optional and chosen by you. When your posting plan includes videos, the portal picks posts whose moment suits motion and makes a clip of 5, 10 or 15 seconds, as long as the moment needs. It is built from your brand profile, your Social Playbook and your dashboard data, so the clip is about your business.
The video appears with its post on your review page. Choose Use this video and the post goes out as a Reel on Facebook and Instagram, with the branded image as its cover. Choose Keep the photo and the post goes out as usual. If you approve the post without choosing the video, it goes out with its photo.
Every AI image in the portal goes through an automated image check, but that check cannot watch video. So a video is used only when a person has looked at it and chosen it.
How do you turn AI short video on or off?
On the Social tab, under Your posting plan, the Short videos setting lets you choose none, 1 or 2 every two weeks. Admins and Managers on your account can change it, and a change applies from the next posts DigitalShyft plans for you.
After a clip is made you can give it a thumbs up or down, with a note for a thumbs down. The planner reads your latest notes the next time it plans videos.
